Spring Activity or Mother's Day gift: Flower Pens

Faith in God-Developing Talents #3
Write a poem, story, or short play that teaches a principle of the gospel or is about Heavenly Father’s creations.

writing paper from Swinging Through Second Grade

Have a lesson on creation.  Dieter F. Uchtdorf has a great talk and video on this.  Make a fun flower pen that represents one of Heavenly Father's creations.  Then use it to write a poem or short story about one of Heavenly Father's creations.  The story could be a brief half page with a picture on the top half of the page to illustrate.

Fun, fast, easy, dollar store craft

Get wire cutting scissors, floral tape, scotch tape, and artificial flowers at the dollar store.
cut a flower and wrap it tightly to pen with flower tape.  It helps to get started by tacking the flower down with scotch tape.  Its even funner to make a whole bouquet.  My girls loved these.  They gave some as gifts and kept some for themselves.  This could be a fun Mother/Daughter activity too.  I just love simple activities!

  1. Hi! I would like to do this activity this week. Could you tell me which talk by Pres. Uchtdorf you are referring to? Thanks!

    1. "Happiness, Your Heritage" October 2008 general conference. I believe there is a video made about it on LDS.org as well.
